Coney Island Baby

.: Went down to Brooklyn yesterday for the Mermaid Parade at Coney Island. Despite being a Brooklyn native before moving upstate, I had never been and was really looking forward showing my kid all the great stuff I never did when I was her age.

I wish, I wish, I wish I was a starfish...We got down to Brooklyn a little after 11, hung out at Mom’s for a little bit and then set off for Coney Island. The day was nice, warm and not hot, with a goodish breeze and plenty of sun. Mom has a parking pass at the Aquarium, so we drove down to see if we might be able to luck out. But the lot was full and there was no way that we were going to find parking anywheres else, so we drove up the F line to Ave. X, hopped on the train and made it back in time for the start of the parade. The parade was pretty cool. People all dressed up like mermaids and other sea worthy folk.

There were a shit load of classic cars (and a few not so classic). And now that I think about it, not one Sponge Bob or Patrick. That’s actually odd to me. There was a guy dressed up like Admiral Ackbar. \"It\'s a trap!\" Of course, I immediately thought of shouting “It’s a trap!” But was instead too busy yelling “Buttscratcher!”

Pip seemed to have a really good time, but I think the volume of people and activity may have stunned her a little. I don’t know necessarily that she’s seen that many people in one place before. Mom took her on the Cyclone just as we were getting paraded out. I took the opportunity to go and find them some t-shirts to commemorate the event, while Chuck stayed to try and get some more pictures of tits.

Pip and the CycloneAfter the Cyclone (which Pip liked, but not enough to go again), we made our way to the boardwalk and tried to get some Nathans, but the place was slammed with people, so Mom took Pip to the candy store while I smoked a cigarette with the space needed to not burn someone in the ass/eye/left teste.

Had some lunch at L&B’s, followed the pizza up with some old fashioned Italian ice, some spumoni and then headed back to Mom’s to rest up. Had some Mr. Tang for dinner, then got back on the road for Kingston.

Nice visit.

Note: This is one sloppy ass post. I may do some editing later, but right now I have to get to bed.

So Much For Sleep

I was planning on an early night tonight.  But alas, it was not to be.

My daughter is at her grandmother’s house, so the plan was to get down into the basement, do a ‘little’ work while doing some of my laundry, and then get to bed by nine.

It’s 10:37.

I have done more work than I intended, sitting in this chair for five hours.  The coffee I made before I headed into the basement is surely cold.  My laundry still stinks like my own sweat and blood and tears.  I have not eaten a thing.

I am hungry. I am smelly. I am all alone and have a cold cup of coffee to look forward to.

However!

I suppose once I publish this, I will put up some laundry, have a cup of cold coffee a shower and then head to bed. I will ask my brother (who will be home in a couple of hours) to put my laundry in the dryer.  Then I’ll make my lunch for tomorrow, and head off to bed.

With any luck, I’ll get five hours before the alarm goes off.

Also must call The Dude.

That is all.

Here is where I am now

So, I’m moving my own operations over to Ill-Literati.org.  I’m hoping to get some of my old posts restored here, which shouldn’t be hard, just mildly time consuming after the hack.

I’m doing some work on the themes that people will be using here, including the home page theme, which I somehow broke in my clumsy knocking things about.

Gantor has been posting.  You can find her posts at gantor.ill-literati.org.  I’ve been finding that she’s even taken off the caps lock.

I am impressed.

I still need to convince The Dude to allow me to move his blog here.  I will gladly leave a redirect on his old one so that people can find him when they want to. I have a feeling that he gets bookmarked quite often, since the number of people bookmarking the site stays fairly steady, and I add no new content.

I will need to sit Gantor down once I get to Florida and show her some of the features.  She’s not one to dick around much with stuff, she needs to be shown tidbitty things.  She is Gantor, and Gantor just strides forth and does what Gantor does.

How many times did I say Gantor in that previous paragraph?

It’s fun to say Gantor.

Part of the reason I can get some work done tonight is that it’s not so beastly hot, and I can actually work in my basement on the desktop, which is infinitely more comfortable for me to work on.  If I ever get a decent lap top (or even if I don’t), I should really get a mouse and keyboard for it.

Let me get to work.

More later.
