My serial appears to be 036986… An older model, correct? If so, I may be lucky or maybe Windows 7 just fixes any problems that were there with Vista.

I got a problem when I was installing this, at some point I was asked to disconnect the snowball then asked to reconnect it. I did that but the problem is, when I connect it I’m asked to reconnect it if I’ve already connected it and I keep doing that but it keeps asking me to.

AnY HeLP????

Thanks Jeff! Curious as to what your Serial Number on the Mic is. Is it one of the older ones that seem to have trouble with Vista (lower than 76-065000) or one of the more recent ones that don’t?

Hey Win 7 Ultimate 64bit user here. I got my Snowball almost exactly 2 years ago and used it on my vista laptop until I just couldn’t be bothered anymore. Even with the snowball hi and lowgain updates (I have both saved on my laptop still), the thing was just too quiet.

I tried to use the mic on my pc after installing Windows 7 RC1 and it was glitchy and cut out frequently, so I put the mic back on the shelf. So today I tried it with Windows 7 proper installed and… It worked perfectly. Loud, clear, and responsive. I didn’t even have to install any firmware updates or whatever. It actually worked ‘out of the box’ as it was advertised. It should, however, be noted that I went into the control panel and set the mic volume to 100 under the ‘levels’ tab. I also set the recording quality to “1 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)” under the ‘Advanced’ tab. I did the same under vista and it seemed to have a minor effect. With these settings under 7, however, things work very well.

I have had this beautiful mic for about a year and a half, just upgraded to a new computer that *gasp* has Vista and I can’t get the damn thing to work.

I tried DLing the files but I can’t even get the computer to register that the damn mic exists. Honestly, should I just buy a new mic?
